Steps to Unlock a McAfee Encrypted Computer
Disk encryption will lock out your system after five unsuccessful attempts to log in to a McAfee encrypted computer. When this occurs, the you will see an image similar to the one below.
Steps:
For a video demonstration of this process from both the Client and Administrator perspective please go to: http://youtu.be/YluhaPT-vEU
1. You will need to contact ITS by phone: (618) 650-5500.
2. ITS will direct you to select the Options button to go to the next screen to begin the process of unlocking your system. From here you will want to select Recovery.
3. You will then be given the option of Administrator or Self Recovery. Select the Administrator Recovery option and click OK.
4. The next screen displays an alpha numeric code with the phonetic pronunciation below it (no screen shot available). Youl will need to read the code to the ITS staff member using the phonetic code to avoid mistakes.
5. The ITS staff memeber is going to use the code you have given them to perform the unlocking procedcure. They will give you a new code to enter. Enter the first part and select the Enter button. Then the ITS staff member will give your the second part of the code (all fields will not be filled in) and select Enter again followed by Finish.
At this point the system will unlock and you should be able to log in with the correct password. If you do not know your password you will have to have it reset (and have your system connected to the University network) before you can log in.
